Garden Exotics of Chicago

I have to confess, I have an inordinate fondness for this plant. The flowers are unusual in shape, a bright yellow color, held upright above the foliage in terminal cymes, but not extremely ornate in and of themselves. What I love about this plant is simply the most arresting foliage- it has alternating rounded pinnate leaves of an outstanding glaucous, blue-green color. Eventually becomes almost shrub-like, creating a wonderfull soft, almost feathery texture anywhere it is placed in your garden. It blends well with almost everything and can be an amazing back-drop to highlight your dark hued flowers or foliage plants, such as the beautiful new dark heuchera cultivars that are becoming more readily available. Whoa boy. I'm sorry, I'm rambling. But do try it.
